29 Best Niche for Blogging With Low Competition
Today, there is no industry or subject matter that is not being blogged about. A simple Google search on any topic on Earth will return many, if not thousands, of different web pages.
Even topics you think are novel, like AI, are being blogged about.
Low-competition niches or the best niche for blogging with low competition don’t mean people are not talking about them. It simply means there are fewer players or fewer strong A-level players in that industry compared to other sectors or niches.
In some cases, low-competition niches have fewer people searching for things related to that industry, resulting in fewer search queries. Sometimes, they are new and very specific.
As a blogger who wants to maximize the content you publish and make money within a reasonable timeframe, you want to avoid direct competition with well-established brands with high Domain Authority (DA). This is important for your content to be able to rank and drive search traffic unless you’re blogging as a hobby – just a mere passion, not monetizable, or you have alternative channels to drive enough monetizable traffic, like social media.
Many newbies make the mistake of starting a blog in the most popular niches, e.g., news, entertainment, business, health, etc., or niches they simply have an interest in without considering the rankability of the niche as a beginner.
For instance, while I’m a strong advocate of starting a blog in a niche in which one has an interest, passion, knowledge, and even certification, you must do adequate research to see if there are still low-hanging keywords you can capitalize on.
Of course, this will require substantive SEO and keyword research knowledge to uncover these niches.
Thankfully, I’ve reviewed 29 low-competition niches for you or what I titled the best niche for blogging with low competition.
They are suggestions after hours of thorough research.
On second thought, what if the niche you’re really passionate about isn’t listed here as a niche with low competition? Does it mean you should give up on it? No. It simply means you should do adequate research to see if there are untapped opportunities to explore, like search queries the industry giants are not targeting.
How To Find Your Niche for Blogging?
For me, there are primarily two things I look at for:
- What is the probability of ranking for the head keyword in the niche?
- Who are the big players in the niche? Are they well-known, traditional, long-standing platforms?
For instance, if I take the head keyword to an SEO research tool like SEMrush, is the competition very easy, easy, or possible? To me, anything above “possible” for a beginner with no strong knowledge of SEO might be a misfit.
If I determine the keyword difficulty for the head term, the next thing is to look at the top 10 websites ranking for it. If they are not well-known brands, I see that as a possibility to rank for it. Also, I could go deeper by analyzing each of the first 10 websites for DA, backlinks, and domain age. I might also check out the authors of the content on the websites to see their qualifications. If all of these make little sense to me, I’m usually sceptical.
The low-competition niches below are for those who can write good content on any niche after doing proper research.

Final Thought
Choosing the wrong niche can be a joy killer – so take your time to make that decision. As I said, choose a niche based on:
- Your interest, passion and knowledge. You want to write on a topic you’re happy talking about to reduce the mental drain that comes with writing boring and uninteresting content.
- The profitability of the niche. Are advertisers advertising in that niche? How much are they currently paying? How about the possibility of selling your product to the audience or signing up for affiliate programs?
- Are there enough people searching for that particular idea? This information can be confirmed by putting the head keyword of that niche into an SEO tool to see the search volume and related terms.
