One thing you must understand is that blogging is bigger than Google’s Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs). It’s an undeniable fact that SERPs make blogging easier, especially for those without funds to arbitrage traffic, but the blogging ecosystem is far bigger than that.
In fact, “blogging” and bloggers can only be put out of business if people stop advertising their businesses on the internet. This isn’t a cross I am willing to bear now, so I must pass on that for now. Hopefully, in subsequent episodes, I’ll discuss more on that.
Sometimes, I wish I had stayed consistently on the path of blogging since 2016 when I got my first AdSense approval. I have no doubt I would have become one of the biggest forces in the blogging industry in Nigeria.
My first blog was launched in 2015, which then metamorphosed into ESY MEDIA, the media-tech brand many know me for.
Anyway, this isn’t about me, but you!
Yes, let me share a few of the things I know would make anyone succeed in blogging, especially if you don’t have money for arbitrage. You’ll crawl, but you’ll succeed.
I strongly believe that many people on Facebook can do better with web blogging than creating on Facebook.
I believe if you could put in the same effort you put on Facebook into creating for your blog, in a few years you should be living a comfortable life.
For instance, the average “active” business person here posts an average of 19 posts monthly on Facebook.
How do I know this? My team and I tracked the notifications Facebook usually sends that say:
“You’ve gained xxxxx followers, created xxxxx posts and received xxxxxxx reactions in the past 90 days.”
I’m certain many people reading this have gotten that notification and were very excited by it. That’s okay!
But how profitable has that actually been for you? Think about it.
If we’re to go by the average of 19 posts in 30 days, it means that in 12 months you should have created 228 posts here. For many people, 228 posts in 12 months is small. Some will actually be able to create more than 500 posts in one year. Right now, check out how many posts you’ve made on Facebook since this year, you’ll be surprised.
Sadly for many, they won’t make any money even after all those posts. But that should have been enough posts to get Google’s AdSense approval in 12 months. And if you decide not to continue, you can easily sell the AdSense account for up to N1,000,000+.
How about that?
Are you now ready to learn how to build a $1,000 monthly business from blogging?
Please, this isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme. It won’t happen tomorrow morning – you won’t wake up tomorrow morning to see $1,000+ in your bank account. It requires efforts and work, but not like traditional farming system of Hoe and Cutlass. This is mechanized farming, boy!
Don’t be scared.
Many people are eager to post consistently on Facebook for one year and more even though they will never be able to make up to N80,000 from it monthly. They are purely motivated by likes, comments, shares, and reach.
I believe I’ve watered the ground enough for us to start this exciting journey here.
Note, this will be divided into different episodes. Always check Building a $1,000 Monthly Blogging Business category for continuations.
Let’s begin.

1. Plan long term
One of the greatest causes of failure in blogging that I’ve observed over the past 10 years is young bloggers not playing the long-term game.
Most people set their expectations to make millions within 3-6 months. If they don’t, they jump to another shiny business that promises to make them that much in a short time.
Of course, it’s possible to start blogging now and in 3-6 months start seeing good figures. But do you have the resources to pull that through? Do you have the strategy as well?
For most people who are starting, the primary sources of traffic are either SEO or social media. Only a few have the capacity to buy traffic. Even those that have the finances to buy traffic lack the strategy—so they waste the money and get no result.
My advice really is to start with SEO or build a reputation on social media.
Let’s focus on SEO for today.
From my experience, SEO is not a get-rich-quick scheme, nor is it a short-term strategy. It takes time.
Even though I get my blog posts crawled, indexed, and rendered to users in a few minutes, I would still suggest you play the long-term game. Oh, yes, you can publish a blog post right now and in less than 10 minutes it will start showing on Google SERP.
When you decide to start blogging, give it at least 12 months of consistency. Yes, one year.
Playing this long term puts your mind at peace, without feeling frustrated.
For instance, for most people, it could take up to 3 weeks for their blog post to be rendered by Uncle G in its SERP.
Imagine planning to blow up in 2 months when the system will take 3 weeks before showing your blog post to search users? At what point do you think you can amass a good Click-Through Rate (CTR) to be able to monetize the blog? I guess in the remaining 1 month and 1 week. But remember you’re not the only person struggling to rank for the same keyword. Most likely, you have 100 blogs in that space that want to rank for it.
There are many things Google considers before giving you that first-fifth position ranking that you, a new blogger who just started, may not have.
1. Domain Authority (DA)
2. Domain Age
3. Trust
4. Expertise
…and many more.
Of course, you can outrank blogs with your new domain, but do you understand core SEO practices? I doubt it.
So, set your goal for at least one year to help build those factors with Google.
Even before you start, ensure you’ve chosen a good niche. I’ll talk about choosing a niche in our next episode.
Within that one year, ensure to publish regularly every month and prioritize top-of-the-funnel keywords with low difficulty or focus mainly on informational keywords since our intent isn’t to monetize right now but to build trust with Google and drive massive traffic.
Your target within 12 months should be to get at least 10,000 monthly organic traffic by the 13th month, which should be enough to start your blogging career. Of course, you can hit 20,000+ monthly traffic following the details I’ll be sharing. But we don’t want to overestimate.
In our next episode, I’ll detail others.
FAQ | Building a $1000 Monthly Blogging Business
Can You Make $1000 a Month With a Blog?
Yes, and even more. There’s no limit to the amount of money your blog can generate for you if you put in the required work.
How Much Can I Earn From 1000 Views on Blog?
It depends on many factors such as the location where the visitors are coming from, the niche, and your monetization method. For example, Google’s Adsense calculator estimates that with 50,000 monthly page views in the health industry with an American audience, the blog should be earning up to $2,000 monthly. Now, bear in mind that the amount and traffic required is just an estimate, and depending on your monetization method, you could earn well above that figure.
Can I Earn From Blogging in 1 Month?
Yes, it’s possible to start a blog and begin to earn from it within one month. However, for this to happen, you would have to spend a lot of money buying an already approved blog with AdSense. Alternatively, you could start and monetize it through other channels.
How Much Can Bloggers Make a Month?
There is no definite amount that bloggers make monthly. In fact, I know of a blogger who makes more than $100,000 monthly. The potential earnings are unlimited as long as you are doing it the right way.
Can a Blogger Become a Millionaire?
Sure! A blogger can become a millionaire, but this takes time as blogging isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme.
Thought Final
Blogging isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme. Just like every other craft, it takes time to master, but not forever. Once you master it, know what works, what works for you, and the best practices, you’ll never remember the days of your humble beginnings.
As pointed out above, one of the major reasons why many never succeed in blogging is because of the desire to start today and make huge amounts quickly. For me, it took over 12 months to make my first $0.80. I would have given up if I hadn’t decided to play the long-term game. Most importantly, I had something else covering my bills, so I didn’t rely heavily on blogging as a source of income until after about 2 years of consistency.
But yours doesn’t have to be that long because I was doing it entirely by myself – nobody to ask questions. It was for me a trial and error method.
