What To Do if Facebook Logs You Out of Your Account
If you ever get logged out of Facebook and Facebook requests to verify your identity, this is what you must do to get your account back.
First, if your name on Facebook is different from the name on your government-issued ID card, DO NOT submit the ID card.
Assuming the name on your government-issued ID card is “Nwachukwu Princewill Uchegbu” but your name on Facebook is “Princewill Uchegbu,” DO NOT submit the ID card. In many cases, Facebook will not unlock the account, especially during this season when they are facing many latches from the government.
If the first option doesn’t favor you, use the second method.
The second option involves using a non-government-issued ID card.
This method has proven to work whenever I employ it more than a government-issued ID card.
This is how it goes:
1. If you’re a student, request your school to reprint your student ID card and include the exact name you use on Facebook. If your real name is Princewill Uchegbu but you go by wilprince on Facebook, simply ask that the ID be reprinted to include wilprince. Alternatively, go to your school library and get a library card with the name you use on Facebook, your image, and possibly your date of birth. If this is not possible, then explore the second option below.
2. If you’re working with a company, simply ask the firm to issue you a letter of employment with the exact name you use on Facebook. In drafting your employment letter or any official letter on the company letterhead, they should find a spot to reference you with the name you use on Facebook together with your real name. For example: “You, Princewill Uchegbu, also known as wilprince, are hereby…” Something like that.
If that’s not possible, take this next route.
3. Before the time when Facebook might lock your account, have a professional conversation using the company’s custom email. In the conversation, the person at the other end should constantly call you by the name you use on Facebook. Possibly, the person should ask you why you chose to use that name on Facebook instead of your official name. Therein, vividly explain to the person that you’re more popular with that name offline; hence it will be easy for your long-time friends to find you on Facebook than by your official name.
If this method isn’t possible either, here’s another strategy.

4. If you’re a member of any professional organization that usually publishes an industry magazine, find a spot in that magazine. Usually, magazines have spots for people’s pictures, names, and brief information about them. Seize that opportunity to introduce the name you use on Facebook. When you do this, whenever Facebook asks to verify your identity, you can use that.
All these methods I’ve personally used, and they work like magic.
Lastly, even if you do not use your real name on Facebook, use your real date of birth so that when the machine begins to validate your information, it can easily match it with the date of birth you put on Facebook.
Good luck!
