Why 80% of Businesses Will Fail in 5 Years—and How to Avoid It
This is not to scare you but to prepare you for the future ahead.
In less than 5 years’ time, 80% of those you know doing business today will withdraw to the backdoor.
They’ll be out of business because they cannot sustain it.
There are lots of reasons for that, chiefly among them is:
Poor business practices.
A lot of us are struggling to understand what works, from content creation, advertising, customer management to positioning ourselves. The most challenging part is that we’re trying to do it alone.
I was like that. In my first 5 years, I spent a great amount of time figuring it out by myself. Trust me, doing it alone is not something I wish for anybody.
When you try to do it alone, you have a high tendency to quit even when you’re one day away from achieving a great result.

Personally, I’ve done it all. But all those years I chose not to be active until some of my clients gave me an ultimatum to be active on social media. That’s why I created this Facebook account in January 2023 and started writing content here on July 3 with ZERO FRIENDS and ZERO FOLLOWERS.
There is hardly any kind of online business I didn’t do. Name it. I’ve done it all. And there’s hardly any online business I cannot teach because I’ve made money from all of them. I understand how those industries work and what doesn’t work in them all.
So, when I say that in less than 5 years’ time, 80% of those you know doing business today will withdraw to the backdoor, I am not exaggerating.
Listen, if you’re just starting, struggling to hit 300k – 500k in profit, or even 100k, take content creation seriously. It’ll save you big time.
But before you take content creation seriously, learn how to create good content.
If you create content for 1 month and nobody ever comes to your inbox to pray for you, or tell you how much they cannot stay a day without reading your content, then you’re doing it the wrong way.
If you create content for 1 month and you’re still getting 5 likes or zero engagement, then you’re doing it the wrong way.
It’s not that you cannot create good content, but simply that you do not understand how to create content that YOUR AUDIENCE loves.
You know, if you’re a teacher, the manner and approach you’ll adopt in teaching a 12-year-old child will be different when teaching a university student and different when teaching a 50-year-old man.
But when you decide to use the same approach you use in teaching a 50-year-old man to teach a 12-year-old child, there will be a problem.
The idea is that every audience has a different approach to the kind of content they love.
You cannot be creating content like a Graphic Designer for an audience of a Social Media Manager and expect it to work.
It doesn’t work that way.
Remember that like attracts like.
Think about it.
